Nepal vs Canada 1st ODI Match, Match Highlights, At the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, the first game of Nepal vs Canada three-match ODI series got underway.
In the first match, hosts Nepal won the toss and elected to bat.
Prior to speaking about Nepal, their junior team just defeated Afghanistan U19 team in the Under-19 World Cup 2024. Nepal Cricket Team has qualified for the T20 World Cup to be held in 2024.
Anyway, Nepal is now busy playing ODI series with Canada.
Nepal team scored 224 runs in the stipulated over and lost all the wickets. In the tight match between Canada and Nepal, it seemed that Canada would beat Nepal.
The match was in the hands of Canada till 43 overs, but in the end, Canada lost the match in front of Nepal’s bowling by going to the edge of 47 overs.
Khushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh opened for Nepal. Nepal’s first wicket fell to Aasif Sheikh.
When Aasif got out for eight (8) runs, the team’s run was one wicket for 48 runs.
Nepal captain Rohit Paudel was expected to come in and guide the team, but in the end it did not happen. He was dismissed by the Canadian bowler Ishwarjot Sohi for 8 runs.
Then Bhim Sharki came to accompany Kushal Bhurtel. But they could not increase the team’s run. Standing at one end, Kushal completed his sixth half-century against Canada. For Nepal, Aarif Sheikh (38) and Sompal Kami’s (27) team’s run rate increased slightly, but it was not enough to win the match.
While Nepal Cricket Team top order batsmen failed to score runs with the bat, their middle order counterparts succeeded. Both the team’s and their own run rates could not be raised by the lower middle order batters.
In the end, the Nepalese batsmen surrendered to Canada’s bowling.
Udhaya Bhagwan took the most wickets in this match for Canada. He bowled eight overs and took three wickets with 40 runs. Saad Bin Zafar and Ishwarjot Sohi grabbed 2 wickets both. Shahid Ahmadzai and Harsh Thaker bagged 1 wicket each.
Nicholas Kirton’s innings of 68 against Nepal became worthless. When he got out, the team was 6 for 195.
The runs of top order batsman Pargat singh (50) and lower order batsman Harsh Thaker (32) did not help the team win. Canada lost by 7 runs in front of Nepal’s bowling.
