Sarfaraz Khan is seen opening the door for the Indian Test team. The change in conditions almost forced the national selectors to call up the Mumbai batsmen. Despite playing notable innings, he was not given a chance in Indian cricket for a long time. Finally, Sarfaraz has been added to the team.
Instead of KL Rahul, he got a place in the India team but did not get a chance to play the 2nd Test match. At the moment, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer have been ruled out of Test matches due to injuries. Due to injury, Shreyas will not play in the remaining matches of IND vs ENG Test Series 2024. He also had groin soreness and back spasms during extended batting sessions in practice. He has been advised to relax for the time being by BCCI’s medical staff. The final three Test matches against England will not feature the right-handed batsman. India’s injured list grew lengthier as a result.

But for a very long time, Sarfaraz was ignored by the Indian squad. During the 2022–23 season, Sarfaraz amassed 556 runs at an average of 92.66 in 6 games. He averaged 122.75 runs scored at the end of the previous season. During the 2020 season, he also scored 928 runs in six games. He had a triple-hundred as well. In first-class cricket, his average stands at 69.6, got 14 centuries and 11 half-centuries. Sarfaraz Khan scored nearly 1700 runs in List A and T20. Sarfraz scored 982 and 928 runs in 2019-20 and 2022 Ranji seasons respectively.
If Sarfaraz gets a place in the team then he can replace Shreyas Iyer.
Shreyas has scored runs in the last three Test matches in the following order- 00, 04, 31, 6, 35, 13 , 27 and 29 runs.
In domestic cricket, he did not get a chance despite playing big innings. Many players are out of the Indian team due to injuries. Sarfaraz Khan’s chance as a replaced player in the 11 in the Indian team is now a matter of time.
Sarfaraz could be seen dropping at number four in place of Shreyas Iyer.
