The 7th BPL match of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024 between Rangpur Riders and Sylhet Strikers is scheduled on January 23 at Mirpur Shere Bangla National Stadium. Rangpur Riders are in sixth place in the ranking after losing only one game. Sylhet Strikers have lost only one game so far and are currently placed seventh.
Rangpur Raiders played their first match against Fortune Barishal. The khulna skipper won the toss and sent Rangpur to bat and bowled them out for 134 runs ,handily winning the match. Rangpur Riders played their debut encounter against Fortune Barishal. Rangpur thus lost their opening game.
It is reported that Rangpur Raiders’s all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan may not play in Sylhet Strikers’s match against Rangpur Raiders.
Shakib Al Hasan did not get a run with the bat against Fortune Barishal but took 2 wickets with 16 runs in 4 overs with the ball.
Hasan Murad,the youngest player in Rangpur Raiders’s team, dazzled the Fortune Barishal players with his ball magic and bowled four overs, conceding 17 runs and taking 2 wickets.
Left-handed batsman Shamim Hossain of Rangpur Raiders has got a golden opportunity to get a place in the Bangladesh team. He scored 34 runs last for Fortune Barishal in this BPL. A good innings takes the team to a reliable score.
Sylhet faced Chattogram Challengers in its inaugural game. Despite a fantastic 172-run performance by their batsmen, Sylhet was unable to win this match against Chattogram Challengers.
The batsmen got runs with the bat but the bowlers failed completely with the ball. So if they want to survive in the BPL league, the bowling side has to do better.
Top middle-order batsman of Sylhet Striker, Zakir Hasan scored an undefeated 70 off 43 balls, matching his highest T20 innings to date. Zakir Hasan seemed to have improved over the previous season.
One of Bangladesh’s finest batsmen across all formats, Nazmul Hossain Shanto, is a left-handed player who opened against the Chattogram Challengers with 36 runs, including seven fours.
Richard Ngarava, during his most recent tour of Sri Lanka, the Zimbabwean pace bowler bowled some impressive bowling that made the spin. Richard Nagarava bowled 4 overs with the challenger and took one wicket with 17 runs. He can efffective player for Sylhet Strikers in this BPL match.

The pitch looks a touch sluggish at the start of the day at Mirpur where the winning total could be closer to 135-145. Spinners will have their turn to exploit.The pacers could take a few early wickets in the powerplay overs, but on Tuesday, it’s expected that both sides will score well. That games with high scores are not expected. Pacers prefer the bounce in the early few overs, but hitters dominate the middle and last overs. The ball may seem a little, but dew will undoubtedly have an impact. It’s best to head up to the bowling alley first at this location.
