In Twenty20 cricket Pakistan batter Babar Azam created a precedent. During Wednesday’s Pakistan Super League encounter, he achieved a new milestone. Babar also created a new world record at that same moment.
Babar Azam is the Fastest Batter To Score 10000 Runs in T20 cricket.
Earlier Chris Gayle had this achievement. Babar Azam created a new record in cricket worldwide. The former captain of that country set a world record in the Pakistan Super League match. He made this feat as the 13th cricketer in the world.
New history was made at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Wednesday, twenty-two yards away. This day saw the 6th Pakistan Super League match between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings (Peshawar Zalmi vs Karachi Kings, PSL 2024). Karachi Kings won the toss and decided to bowl first. Captain Babar came down to open for Peshawar. Despite his team losing 3 wickets for 40 runs, Babar was steadfast in his goal. They collected 154 runs for ten wickets in the stipulated over. Courtesy of Babar’s 72 runs off 51 balls. Babar Azam has set a record in T20 cricket by hitting seven fours and a six throughout the innings.
Chris Gayle’s name erased from the record books. It took only 271 innings for Babar to top Gayle’s ten thousand runs. In 2017, he played in IPL against Gujarat Lions in Rajkot and scored ten thousand runs in the 285th T20 innings of his career. Gayle had held the record by playing fewer matches, now Babar has set the record by playing fewer matches. Currently he is the Fastest Batter To Score 10000 Runs in T20 cricket.
Indian veteran cricketer Virat Kohli (299 innings) is third in this list. Aussie star David Warner at four (303 innings).
Babar played for Karachi Kings in Pakistan Super League from 2017 to 2022. He was the captain in 2021 and 2022. In that sense, the former Pakistan captain set a world record against his former franchise.
