IND vs ENG Test Series 2024, At the beginning of day 3, Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel were at the crease. But stumps on Day 3, a masterclass from Ollie Pope which has kept England in the hunt.
India gained a commanding lead in the first innings of the first test match between India and England, intending to end England’s chances of winning. However, India only added 15 runs before being all out.
India took a 190-run lead in the opening Test against England. Joe Root ensured that India’s innings did not take too long in Hyderabad on Saturday morning. He took four (4) wickets. Hyderabad witnessed the bowling prowess of the English all-rounder. In the end India scored 436 runs.
Batting first, England scored 246 runs in first innings. Ravindra Jadeja was dismissed for 87 runs on Saturday morning. India was waiting for his century with the bat. In two consecutive balls, Root dismissed both Jadeja and Jashprit Bumrah.
Axar Patel was dismissed by Rehan Ahmed. The Indian spinner got out after scoring 44 runs. India’s innings also ended with 436 runs and lead by 190 runs.
Tom Hartley and Rehan Ahmed took 2 wickets each. Jack Leach received 1 wicket. Joe Root grabbed the most wickets for England . Root climbed 4 wickets for 79 runs in 29 overs.
After the Indian batsmen were all out, the England batsmen chased down a lead of 190 runs.
Chasing the lead, Ashwin dismissed England’s opening batsman Zak Crawley for 31 runs.
England’s run rate continued to build on the batting of Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope, both of them put on a fine 67runs stand. When England’s team scored 113 runs, Ben Duckett was dismissed for 47 runs by Jasprit Bumrah. No batsmen could keep company with Ollie Pope. Although Joe Root took four wickets with the ball, he failed with the bat in the second innings like the first innings.
England skipper Ben Stokes started a brilliant innings of 70 runs in the first innings but in the second innings Ben Stokes was dismissed for just 6 runs by Ravichandran Ashwin.
After getting out for just one run in the first innings, Ollie Pope scored an unbeaten century of 148 runs in the second innings. 148 not out by Pope is the highest by a visiting batter in second innings vs India in India since Alastair Cook’s 176 in Ahmedabad in 2012 which incidentlly came in the first test of India’s last series defeat at home.
Ollie Pope hit 17 fours to complete an unbeaten innings of 148 runs. Ollie Pope was batting at a strike rate of 71.15 on the second innings. Finally, Axar Patel dismissed Ben Foakes for 33 runs .
Now Rehan Ahmed is playing with Ollie Pope. Rehan Ahmed is unbeaten on 16 runs.
The lead is 126 and England team will start to belive if they can take this to anywhere around 160-170.
