Real Madrid midfielder Arda Güler is likely to make his debut when La Liga resumes this week after Spanish football’s winter break. Guler joined Madrid from Fenerbahce in a €20 million deal last July. But he could not play for Madrid due to a knee injury. In 2023, the 18-year-old Turkish footballer could not play a single minute for his new club.
Madrid decided not to rush Guler last December, delaying his debut until 2024. However, he can play against Mallorca this week. AS reported that Guler practiced once more “normally” on Monday. Guler was on the bench for Madrid’s La Liga match against Rayo Vallecano in early November, but a 0–0 draw was not considered the right situation to make his debut. Realizing the situation, maybe Madrid will field him this time.
Madrid are also expected to return Vinicius Junior against Mallorca. He was sidelined for six weeks after tearing a thigh muscle on international duty in South America last November. The Brazilian recently declared himself fit and said- “I am fine, very fine. Now the coach has to choose what to do. I’m fine now and ready to hit the ground running… In 2024 we can win a lot of titles”.
